This is Sorrowhead. He's not attended a Chiefs game since Romeo left the house after the 2012 season. He (as so many like him) thought that Andy Reid was coming in to "set things a'right" (The Outlaw Josey Wales reference :). Instead what he got was a dog and pony show, concocted by a washed up NFL Head Coach who was looking for a solid opportunity at a 5+ year working retirement. The only success in this regard so far is Reid's. HE's getting exactly what he wants. Sorrowhead and the Chiefs (not to mention Chiefs fans)? Not so much.
Sorrowhead recently saw a BOLD PREDICTION article for the Chiefs that gave him some hope. Little did Sorrowhead realize, he was reading these BOLD PREDICTIONS on a site and by an author that simply refuse to see the reality that is the 2015 Kansas City Chiefs. Poor Sorrowhead. He actually thought the Chiefs had a chance this time. This time, said BOLD PREDICTIONS, would be different. I dunno, it looked a hell of a lot like it has for forty years.
Let's just get this prediction shit out of the way right quick. The Chiefs offense will actually be good this year and the Chiefs finally snag a playoff win? If last night was any indication, I'd say prediction machine is 0 for 2.
The offense will be good? What part exactly? If you mean the part where Alex Smith throws interceptions, I guess I'd have to agree. He is pretty good at that. Maybe you mean the part where Jamaal Charles fumbles the ball away at key moments in the game. If you have to fumble, you might as well make it the most important play and time of the game. Doing it with 30 seconds left in the game and letting the other team pick it up and score the winning touchdown is one of those times. Good going 25. Things like this used to be enough to make me want to puke. Now, I expect them. It's the way the Chiefs play the game.
Thanks Bob, for confirming what I've been saying now for over two years. Andy Reid needs to go.
Let's compare Todd Haley's first 34 games as KC's HC with Andy Reid's first 34 games in that same position. Todd Haley went 14-20. Andy Reid went 21-13. Both made it to one playoff game. Todd Haley won seven fewer games than Reid in the same number of starts but won an AFC West Championship and went 2-3 in his five meetings with the Broncos. Reid? No championship wins of any kind and 0-5 versus those Donkeys. Wow. The silence in here just became deafening. Todd Haley's playoff defense allowed the Ravens to score 30 points in a loss. Reid? His defense allowed the Colts to score 45 points in a loss.
Todd Haley's Ehrhardt-Perkins offense was run first and was not designed to score massive points. Reid on the other hand, runs the west coast offense which is supposed to score a lot of points. Neither one got us what we wanted. Indeed, Haley did better in the things that matter (if beating the broncos and winning the afc west matter) than Reid, with fewer wins and a lot less points scored. This really is my point folks. Reid is wasting the franchises time. He might be prettier than Haley, but in the final analysis, his results are certainly no better and arguably worse than Haley.
It's about time now, for someone to make an enlightened statement about last week's Chiefs win in Houston. Child please. I had a reader make a comment on my season prediction post in perfect snark after the Chiefs came out on top last week. It said, "How is that week one prediction going for you now?". LOL. My response was that this is a marathon and not a sprint. That Houston game put me in mind of the Zombie run that these Chiefs enjoyed in year one of Reid's tenure when they shot the moon and got their record up to 9-0. You have to recognize things for what they are people. The win last week was actually an ugly win. The Chiefs held on to win that game. Ryan Mallett is now the starter for the Texans based on his play in that game last week. Frankly, if O'brien had made that swap earlier, I have no doubt that the Texans would have won the day. I know, I know. It didn't happen. I guess Denver just got lucky last night...just like they have the last six times we played'em. Sure.
I was screaming at the TV last night. I haven't done that since the playoff loss to the colts. I thought I had that in check. Now I realize that I probably never will. Frustration, futility, angst and anger only just begin to describe my attitude about the Chiefs. It's gonna be another long season.
Please excuse me now, until next time. I have to go resume banging my head into the wall...

You know, fumblitus is not a new disease for Charles. Remember this?
Hmmm. Jamaal averages over four fumbles a year. That is nearly the highest number for running backs with 100 or more touches per season. EXCEPT during 2011 when coach Haley put it on him to protect 'his' football. IN that season, Jamaal only had ONE fumble. Are those two things connected? I'd say so but I also know that most Chief's fans and Chief's fan sites would rather just chalk it up to bad luck. That way, you see, they don't have a problem that needs correcting. They just have bad ju-ju.
You can bet your BBQ ribs that Reid will molly-coddle Charles on this instead of making him take responsibility. Sure, Jamaal has already publicly said it was his fault (actually, given the truth that this is a problem that Jamaal has been called on before, his public acceptance of blame kinda pisses me off--the fact that you own this is painfully evident, I don't need you to confirm it). Big deal. Show me Jamaal. Show me.
Fumbling is one of those things that happens to running backs. When you consistently do it more often than most of your peers, it's not unlucky and it's not a bad break. It's sloppy ball handling. Jamaal is a gifted back in this league, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't need his ass kicked when he screws up. Too bad Reid won't be there to handle the tough love. Reid is already warming up the 'gotta do a better job' motto.

I will add this though. Phil Simms comment about Charles at least holding onto his helmet as he slammed it on the ground on the sideline after the fumble was uncalled for. Phil fumbled the ball 93 times in his career. Pot meet kettle. Then STFU.
OH, it just don't get no better. Was it just me or did anyone else notice that we still haven't scored a touchdown with a pass to a wide receiver? Let's see, that would be 18 20 games and counting now, right? I must admit that it does make it more difficult to score a TD when your QB throws the ball to the wrong players. Those are called interceptions and Alex has mastered that little part of the game. Anytime he wants, he can lay one in there without hesitation. It's like, masterful.
Folks, it's about time that the Alex Smith fan bois start admitting that Alex just ain't all that. Alex has the ability to lose games that he shouldn't. That is half of what Tony Romo is. Unfortunately, the other half of Tony Romo is that he has the ability to win games that he shouldn't. Alex was absent the day they were handing out that part to QBs. He was probably too busy convincing Trent Dilfer that he is a master of the offense. Considering the way that Dilfer won his Super Bowl, that probably didn't take much effort. Dilfer was the one who thought the NFL should legalize the bounce pass you know. He made so many of them, he just couldn't understand why they didn't count.
Ok, nothing else to see here...moving on...
Yep. It's all giddy school girl giggles, unicorns and lollipops. The world is Reid's oyster (have you read this?). Houston is laughing on the outside but crying on the inside. I mean, if your head coach is yucking it up, you have to follow suit...right? Damn the details man! We are having FUN here!! Reid is an out an out disaster folks. Did ya see Bob Fescoe's tweet?
Players need to execute but boy Andy Reid can either be really good or down right dreadful. Tonight he was TERRIBLE.
