To me I want to believe Reid was hoping for Ron Rivera, and obviously his go to guy didn't pan out with CAR retaining his services. But I'll give Sutton a chance (like I have any other choice right?) before passing judgement.

If Sutton falters and Rivera hits the market next offseason, do we have the guy Reid initially wanted? I'm curious to find out.Kalan Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00605481730415785514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4806443285829842368.post-86476597099495240502013-01-20T18:39:27.115-08:002013-01-20T18:39:27.115-08:00Thanks, and great points. Then we can decide if it's lynchin' time or not. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16950172879224471058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4806443285829842368.post-878150741987197622013-01-20T11:11:10.495-08:002013-01-20T11:11:10.495-08:00Aiken--Nice article, and well said. These are exactly my concerns with Sutton.

DID his time in the 34/46 one gap hybrid that Rex Ryan and Mike Pettine called, give him some add'l tools to spice up the Fairbanks two gap 34 we're so used to (and he used to coordinate)?

Or is he an excellent position coach, one-half to one chair above his best spot?

Or did the Jets have some talent deficiencies, that Rex and Tannenbaum recified (that Mangini didn't) and that held the guy back?

To me, he's the most "meh" hire on our staff...but he could also be a really solid one too. We've got no way to gauge whether those mid-00 Jet defenses were his doing or Manboobs' which to me, is part of the problem.

It'll be intriguing to see how this turns out.

Again--nice blog sir. Given the failure in this regard by the last regime, I think the Chiefs are in dire need of a great motivator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16950172879224471058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4806443285829842368.post-33353424228659218112013-01-20T07:12:14.022-08:002013-01-20T07:12:14.022-08:00Good info. To be fair, if a team has talent then the biggest concern for any coach is whether or not they can motivate their players to execute with passion and discipline.
